In Places, Empty Spaces
Places in/around Seattle that I would enjoy to work/learn at:

Two Sticks Audio: http://www.twosticksaudio.com/index.php

This studio is the drummer of Death Cab For Cutie, Jason Mcgerr’s studio. He has focused a lot of attention on the idea of having a great sounding and comfortable drum room for recording. But of course you can’t go wrong with a studio that puts so much thought into great sounding drums, as for they are often the backbone of a great (sounding) record. Plus they will naturally/automatically have a great client list.

Bear Creek Studio: http://www.bearcreekstudio.com/default.htm

Reuben said this studio is for old people, but it is in an old barn in the woods, which is something that I daydream about. They do have a great client list as well, and the albums that I listen to that have been recorded there, sound great.

This last one isn’t even a studio, but it would be cool to be a producer/engineer’s personal intern. If I could have Phil Ek as a mentor sort of dude, that would be awesome. He has produced some great records and I believe he does so in and around the Seattle area. I think he moves around from studio to studio (freelance), which is awesome, because I really need to learn how to adjust to different studios and environments, and work with different boards, gear, and rooms. http://www.philek.com/index.html

That’s all for now. I may skip my “skipping winter” idea, and just go straight to Seattle in the fall. I’m getting anxious.
